League or bust for Arsenal

With only one trophy now achieveable for Arsenal, following last nights loss to Barcelona and exit from the Champions League, all eyes are set on the top of the table and the pressure is on Arsene Wenger’s men to bring home the silverware.

Lying three points behind Chelsea, Arsenal will be looking to end their season on a high domestically with the league title, something they haven’t won since the Unbeatables era during the 2003-2004 season.

The headlines have all been about Lionel Messi’s four goal demolition of Arsenal, but fans will be moving on from this by looking forward to their next five matches which will mould their season.

Arsenal face Spurs, Wigan, Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers and face Fulham in their final match of the season. This is in comparison to Chelsea’s run in of: Bolton, Spurs, Stoke, Liverpool and Wigan and Manchester United’s final matches against Blackburn, Manchester City, Spurs, Sunderland and Stoke City.

Looking at that run in, its hard to argue that anyone has an advantage as all those games will be tough, especially facing the likes of Liverpool, Spurs and Manchester City who are all vying for that fourth placed position and will be scrapping for all the points they can.

Although on paper the feat is entirely achieveable, Arsenal’s goal difference could be the deciding factor if it gets even tighter come the last game of the season. Arsene’s men will be facing the pressure: win every match and go for the title, or go bust and end another season trophyless.
