Nicole Carroll: A one woman mission to make a name in football

On field crisis at Liverpool?

with one comment

I think Steven Gerrard’s face says it all really.

There is no denying that Liverpool are a top side. Last season however, they were challenging for the title, whereas now they are scrapping for points in the desperate hope of clinging onto that fourth place spot.

The Liverpool team that arrived at St. Andrews yesterday aren’t the team that have visited before. Liverpool are usually dangerous, dynamic and have plenty of options to win a match. Looking back to the 7-1 loss in the cup many years ago, they were frightening and simply tore us apart. Although they had plenty of chances yesterday, they lacked killer instinct and that final touch.

Trailing by four points in the race to gain that 4th position, Liverpools hopes seem to be fading. Liverpool must win every match now and hope for those above them to start dropping the points. Torres claimed before the match that Liverpool needed to win all 6 remaining games, but now will have to rely on the remaining five. With off the field problems surrounding their finances, losing their Champions League spot would be a devastating blow on and off the field.

There’s a fantastic article here which succinctly talks about the situation, in a way that only a true fan can articulate.

  1. Its pretty obvious that there is something terribly wrong at Liverpool. Its time for a change. With players like Gerrard, Mascherano and Torres, Liverpool fans certainly don’t deserve this.
