There were whispers over the weekend concerning Phil Brown’s position at Hull City, and this morning the manager was placed on gardening leave with immediate effect.

A statement from Hull city cites the need to keep the club in the Premier League as a factor behind the move. Assistant boss Brian Horton and Steve Parkin will take charge of the Tigers’ first-team until further notice.

Hull currently lie 3 points from safety in second from bottom position in the Premier League. The club narrowly lost to Arsenal at the weekend, with Bendtner scoring the winner late into injury time. Hull face Portsmouth in their next Premier League fixture, coming off the back of a four game losing streak.
