Nicole Carroll: A one woman mission to make a name in football

Who goes? Capello decides

with one comment

England/Egypt has just finished, with England beating their opponents 3-1 following being 1-0 down at half time. Crouch managed to score twice, albeit the second goal looking decidedly offside and Shaun Wright-Phillips added his name onto the England score sheet.

First half was concerning, with England failing to deal with the pace of their opponents. A great goal from Zidan reminded us England fans that we still have work to do before we get to the finals in South Africa. We may be classed as one of the best teams in the world, but we’ll still be overshadowed by other countries squads, such as the likes of Spain who are the hot favourites among the people I’ve spoken to.

If anything, it’s given Fabio Capello even more to think about. Arguably, Crouch’s place must be guaranteed on that plane. Although he’s never going to be voted in the best player in the world list, his England goal scoring record is more than impressive with 20 goals in 37 appearances.

If Capello chooses to take Rooney, Crouch and Defoe, then who does he take as fourth striker?

  1. I really rate Carlton Cole, i think hes got good pace, strength and good finnishing Never really liked Heskey, passed his time befor he even started his international carrer lol The thing is England hasnt got a prolific striker, (prolific being a 20 goal a season man) not one English stiker is prolific at the moment, not even Rooney is prolific, hes been in football for almost 10 years and has only scored more than 20 goals twice, once being this season. So who have you got?? Darren Bent – maybe, not playing too well at the moment. Andy Johnson – Not playing right now. James Beattie – Dont think so. Gabby Agbondlahor – Good player, but i dont think he scores as many as he should.
Over all, i would be happy with Gabby or Cole, with Cole just edgeing it for me.
